Drainage Is Everything on the Northshore

Between Lake Pontchartrain, heavy rainfall, and clay soil that holds water, drainage is the single most important part of any Northshore site. We design positive drainage into every pad — sloping the grade, installing French drains and culverts where needed, and controlling erosion so water moves away from your structure instead of pooling under it.

What does site preparation include?
Typically clearing, stripping unsuitable soil, excavation, importing and compacting fill, building the pad to grade, and installing drainage. The exact scope depends on your site and what you are building. We scope it on a walkthrough and put it in writing.
Why is drainage such a big deal in Louisiana?
Our flat terrain, heavy rain, and clay soil mean water sits unless you move it. Proper drainage protects your foundation from settling and cracking and keeps the site usable. We build positive drainage and French drains into the pad from the start.
How long does a building pad need to settle before building?
When fill is placed and compacted properly in lifts, the pad is ready to build on — it should not need to sit and settle. That is the point of compaction. We build pads to carry the load right away.
Do you handle permits and site drainage requirements?
